Hop on Hop off Wine Tours Nelson run every Thursday – Sunday from 10am – 6pm with easy pick-up and drop-off at the Nelson i-SITE.

Our Full Day Nelson Wine Tour allows you to stop at some great locations. Try some local wines, enjoy a scenic drive and indulge in some local produce!

Please be aware: At present our map/timetable has only 1 return, returning at 5.55pm. 

This tour is a long day (7 hours), purely due to the large area the region covers and driving times between venues.

    Nelson Classic Car Museum (NCCM) is the best place to see more than 150 cars in immaculate condition. The museum is the place to marvel and admire an incredible collection of iconic cars. Relive your own memories of your grandad’s car, your first car and your dream car! Open daily 10am – 4pm. No bookings required.

     

    2. Speights Ale House (+64 3 547 7336)

    Speight’s Brewery has always produced award winning, traditional ales & beers, using only the finest quality Southern ingredients & purest water. Why not taste the whole family of Speight’s beers! We recommend a sampling tray. Open 7 days. No bookings required.

     

    3. Pics Peanut Butter World (+64 3 544 8402)

    The home of all things Pic’s Peanut Butter! Peanut Butter World isn’t just where they make really good award-winning products, but a specially designed space that allows them to host tens of thousands of Peanut Butter lovers every year.

    Open Monday – Friday 830am – 430pm. Bookings essential for the tour. Closed Saturday/Sunday.

     

    4. McCashins Brewery (+64 3 547 5357)

    Perched at the top of the South Island in New Zealand’s sunniest spot, McCashins utilise the stunning natural resources at their disposal. The brewers are innovative in their approach, always evolving and pushing the boundaries to create unique beers, mouthwatering ciders, and a distinctive range of non-alcoholic beverages.

    60 minute tours available for $25: Tuesday – Friday 11am and 2pm. Bookings essential for tours.

     

    5. Richmond Aquatic Centre (+64 3 543 9755)

    Your local community hub with fitness centre, group fitness classes, variety of pools and kids programmes for every occasion. The Richmond Aquatic Centre opens every day.

     

    6. Eddyline Brewery (+64 3 544 7474)

    Eddyline is about being a comfortable place to stop, relax, and catch up. Eddyline comes from the line separating the fast flowing current in a river from the eddy where the water slows allowing kayakers to stop, rest, catch up, and celebrate their victories. A family-friendly, unpretentious and casual brewpub serving wood-fired pizzas and the best craft beers brewed on site. Be sure to try a sample tray. Taproom open Tuesday – Saturday 12-9pm.     7. EyeBright Country Store (+64 3 544 4977)

    Eyebright has been producing everlasting flowers for thirty five years. The much loved Eyebright Country Store is set in a beautiful garden close to Richmond, Nelson. Find New Zealand’s biggest range of dried flowers here! Winter opening hours 7 days 930am – 430pm. No bookings required.

     

    8. Te Mania Wines/Richmond Plains (+64 3 544 7585)

    Te Mānia (the Maori name for “The Plains”) is a family-owned Nelson winery, located near the beautiful coastline of Tasman Bay. The vineyards flourish on the ancient alluvial terraces through which rivers flow from the mountains to the sea. The stony soils, combined with Nelson’s cool maritime climate and high sunshine hours, produce grapes and wines of the finest quality. Be sure to check out the world largest grapevine rugby ball! Currently closed for Winter.

     

    9. The Junction (+64 3 544 1911)

    The friendly staff at The Junction will help you choose the perfect cheese and cut it fresh from the wheel. You can also fill your own Milk, Olive Oil, Smoked Olives, Mushrooms, Tomatoes, and Chillies as well as Honey so you can get exactly the quantity you need for your trip. Snacks and meals which are easy to transport and perfect for tramping also available. Open 7 days. Opens at 9am – closing times vary.

     

    10. The Grape Estate (+64 3 5444 341)

    Nestled in a beautiful country garden, The Grape Escape Cafe is the perfect place to relax and enjoy great food and superb coffee. Whether you would like brunch, lunch or afternoon tea, enjoy the ambience of our cosy cafe. Relax on the deck, outdoors under a sun umbrella, or in the shade of a tree enjoying the garden.     Capital Cider Co. is a small, independent cidery from Nelson, NZ. Making modern, new world ciders that are cleaner, fresher & drier, naturally. They make great ciders that have deep roots & lots of heart! Never from concentrate with no added sugar or water.     12. Seifried Estate/Harvest Kitchens (+64 3 544 5599)

    Enjoy a tasting of some of the finest wines at Seifried and see why Nelson is such a special place to grow and make wine. With a selection of both current and cellar release wines available, and some of the most interesting wines open for tasting, it’s a wonderful place to challenge your senses and try something new. Knowledgeable and friendly cellar door staff can take you through a line-up of wines and answer any questions regarding the viticulture and winemaking techniques used. Open 7 days 11am – 4pm. Bookings required for larger groups.

     

    13. North Eatery (+64 3 543 2983)

    A small cafe, located in Heaphy Vineyard in the beautiful Tasman region. North Eatery serve sourdough style pizzas, vegetables and plates using sustainable and organic produce sourced from small local farms.  Their goal is to bring the best food and wine, in a comfortable setting. Open Wednesday – Sunday 11am – 4pm.

     

    14. Forsters/Moutere Hills (+64 3 543 2288)

    Forsters offers a fabulous dining experience with dishes prepared by award winning chef Alistair Forster. Alistair is a New Zealand Lamb & Beef Ambassador and together with his wife Fiona they have created a stunning restaurant overlooking the vines and neighbouring hops. The cellar door/tasting room is open the same hours as the restaurant. The tasting room operates from Forsters restaurant where you can sample wines on offer before choosing the perfect match for your food. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Opening times vary.

     

    15. Tasteology (+64 3 543 2918) An Artisan store at the old Post Office. Try a selection of wonderful wines, cider and food without pretension in a relaxed, friendly environment. Tasteology offers a selection of locally sourced platters. Open 7 days, 830am – 430pm. 

     

    16. Moutere Inn (+64 3 5432 759)

    New Zealand’s Oldest Pub, in its original building, established 1850. Since 2008, the Inn has been a craft beer freehouse with 13 rotating taps. All wines are sourced within 10km of the Inn and quality pub meals are made from scratch in the Moutere Kitchen. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Opens at 10am – 9pm (later Thursday and Friday).

     

    17. Gravity Winery (+64 3 543 2817)

    Gravity Winery Cellar Door offers visitors a wine journey through New Zealand’s top wine growing regions, right here in sunny Tasman. We offer a selection of tasting options so there is something for everyone. Also offering a selection of tasty platters with delicious local produce for you to enjoy with a glass of wine, while taking in the stunning vista around you. Make sure you stop in at the local community Gallery run by local artists. Open 10am – 4pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday during Winter.

     

    18. Mapua Bus Stop

    Have a beautiful venture within the township of Mapua, conveniently located across the road from the Sprig and Fern Mapua!

     

    19. Rimu Winebar (+64 3 540 2580)

    Rimu Wine Bar is the ultimate destination for wine lovers in the Nelson region with an ever changing range of over 50 different wines available for tasting or by the glass from all around Nelson, New Zealand and the world. They also offer craft beers, premium single malt scotch whiskey, ports and spirits for those looking to explore something new as well as pizzas and platters available. There’s a cozy fire to curl up next to in the winter and lovely outdoor area where you can bask in the sun. Open daily from noon until late. They do not take bookings.

     

    20. Golden Bear Brewing Company (+64 3 540 3210)

    A great place to chill out with friends, savour craft beers, listen to live music and enjoy Mexican-inspired dishes.

    Closed until mid August 2022.

Prior to the day: 

This is a self guided tour – All tastings are the guests responsibility and at the guests expense. Some wineries will waiver the tasting fee when purchasing wine. We recommend booking lunch prior to the day and bringing water with you to stay hydrated.

All tours have a minimum number of 6 guests for the tours to run. We reserve the right to cancel the tour if this number is not met. A refund or alternative date for the tour will be offered to all guests.

If you would like to book for more than 8 guests please contact us directly.  More than 8 people cannot travel together on our tours without prior arrangement due to logistical reasons and the intimate nature of our selected wineries. We do not allow parties to merge together. If more than 8 people are in one group you will either a) be asked to leave the bus or b) be driven back at a cost of $200.

Anyone under the age of 18 is welcome, however – to consume alcohol you MUST be over the legal drinking age. You may be asked to produce a Government issued ID to prove your age. A child’s tickets can be purchased for those under 13 years.

 

On the Day: 

Please be at your pick up stop 5 minutes prior to the departure time. Hop on Hop off does not take any responsibility for lateness.

We recommend no more than 8 guests hop off at any given winery – this is to ensure a more intimate and enjoyable experience.

Our buses are not licensed which means alcohol cannot be consumed whilst on the bus. We follow strict duty of care protocols which may result in the stoppage of a guest’s tour when not followed. The removal of the offending passenger in the event of consuming alcohol,  intoxication or disrespectful behaviour may occur. A fine will be charged for any event which causes cleaning such as spillage or soiling the bus ($200).

You will be provided with a wristband and a map of the stops/the route on the day with the allocated timetable. Use the wristband to unlock Hop on Hop off specials at selected venues (see the website for further information).

 

Cancellation Policy: 

Cancellations received more than 14 days prior to departure are fully refunded.

Cancellation received less than 14 days prior to departure will be charged full price. Upon communication with the booking team, we will endeavor to offer a new date for your Hop on Hop off Wine Tour.

If you cancel within the 14 day period your tickets are non-refundable, if you cancel outside this time frame, you will receive a full refund.

 

COVID Cancellation Policy:

If any part of the country is in an ‘Amber’ Alert level or above, tickets will be non-refundable, and we will put tickets on hold for 48 months.

You can use these tickets, part-use them or gift them to someone else, any time in the 4 year window provided.

If there are no lockdowns anywhere in New Zealand, and we are at the green alert level. Our policy reverts to our 14 day cancellation policy.
